FAQs
1. When should I reserve my session?
Any time you’re ready! It’s never too soon to reserve your spot, but I would say most clients try to reserve sessions anywhere from 2-6 months in advance. I do take a limited amount of sessions per month so that I am able to serve my clients well and try to leave some last minute openings for studio newborn sessions especially.
2. When should I have my maternity and newborn session?
Maternity sessions are best scheduled anytime between 28-32 weeks to be sure you’re feeling great and can show off your bump, but I have also fit in mamas who decided past 32 weeks that they wanted to have maternity portraits. It’s never too late until you’re in labor. Newborn sessions are generally anywhere from 1-3 weeks old, but because I am focused on baby led posing, and family portraits, I have also done 4, 6, and 8 week old ‘newborn’ sessions. Regardless of your baby's age, we will make beautiful portraits for your family.
3. Do your sessions include wardrobe?
Absolutely! The studio wardrobe has over 200 dresses for moms and a wide range of clothing 0-8 years old for children, and shirts for dads. The majority of clothing that you see in my portfolio has been borrowed from the Studio Wardrobe. Clients are able to try on and choose clothing before their session. Want to wear your own clothing/have my help styling? That's great, too!
4. Is my whole family included?
Yes! All of my full sessions (maternity, newborn, baby, and family) include your entire immediate family attending.
5. I don’t know of any good locations – where does our session take place?
I’ve got you! My studio in downtown Franklin is the perfect, simple place for indoor maternity sessions, newborn, baby's cake smash, and family sessions with everything you need right there in 1500 square feet of private space curated just for you and your family.
For outdoor sessions, a beautiful field is just a couple miles away. Over 15 years I've perfected using my light, angles, and locations to provide you only the very best and full galleries where you absolutely adore every single image.
Interested in having your session in your home? This is a great option for my clients who are really excited to show off their homes and nurseries and be able to most easily include your fur babies. We'll chat about what location is best for you.
6. Do you offer hair and makeup?
Yes! Most of my clients choose to have hair and makeup done with my recommended hair and makeup artist at her private Green Hills location or with some studio travel availability . These fees are paid directly to her.
7. My partner and/or kids absolutely hate family photos - help me!
I totally get it, that's why I'm on the other side of the camera... But really, I do get it. This is typically not their favorite day and the best compliment I get from nearly all of my dads, especially, is "We are done already? Wow that wasn't so bad at all". I promise to be as efficient and pain free as possible for all. I'm also a toddler whisperer and always get them on my team cooperating and having fun. You don't need to worry about any of it while we are together.
8. Are digital images included? Can we have digital images?
All artwork and digital images are purchased AFTER seeing your final photos. I do this so you can see your final images and choose what works best for your family. You absolutely could choose all of the high res digital files, albums, and framed fine art prints…or any combination of those items. Most clients purchase digital images + printed artwork for their home.
9. Planning sessions is always so stressful for me; do you really do it all?
Absolutely. Before I began my business in 2010, I cancelled my maternity session in 2009 because I felt unprepared and not confident I would love my photos, or myself, in them. Basic clothing recommendations and lack of opinions on planning from my photographer left me feeling nervous about the outcome overall. It became my mission to never let another mom feel like that.
Between clothing your whole family, recommending the best for hair and makeup if chosen, and planning locations, each image and idea for my signature style, to final artwork ready to display in your home (you don't have to DIY it, though you can if you want to) and creating a safe and welcoming environment for your family; truly all you have to do is show up in your leggings and mom bun and I will take care of the rest, leaving you only with your favorite portraits you've ever taken - guaranteed.
